2. Unclutching

A guided meditation to help you loosen your grip on thoughts, stories and beliefs, and experience greater freedom within your mind.

The mind does not simply create individual thoughts. It often takes one thought, feeling or sound and builds an entire story around it. Before we realise what has happened, we can become caught in memories, imagined conversations, judgements, worries or beliefs about ourselves and other people.

Unclutching invites you to notice when this happens and gently let go.

Beginning with calming breathwork and a full-body relaxation, this meditation guides you into a softer, more grounded state. You will then be introduced to the practice of unclutching: recognising when the mind has closed around a thought or story and gently opening the palm of the mind again.

Rather than fighting your thoughts or trying to force them away, you will practise meeting the mind with softness and compassion. Each time you notice yourself becoming trapped in a story, you are invited to release your grip, return to your breath and rest in the space between your thoughts.

The meditation also encourages you to explore where you may be clutching tightly in everyday life. This might include relationships, opinions, limiting beliefs, familiar identities, emotional labels or the need to be right.

You will be invited to:

  • Relax and soften tension throughout the body

  • Observe the natural habits of your mind

  • Recognise when a thought has become a story

  • Unclutch from judgements, labels and limiting beliefs

  • Create space between yourself and your thoughts

  • Let go of the need to control or hold on

  • Carry the unclutching practice into daily life

Unclutching does not mean denying your thoughts, feelings or physical sensations. It means releasing the stories and labels that can keep you trapped within them.

Each time you unclutch, you create a little more space.

And within that space, you may begin to experience greater presence, peace and freedom.
